Broadway Actor And Artist Charles Holt Visits Wichita

Carla Eckels

Broadway actor, recording artist and author Charles Holt is in Wichita this week, as part of the Centennial celebration of Gordon Park’s life.

Holt spoke at Wichita State and to public school students and will wrap up his visit at a book signing Thursday.

Music and storytelling have always been a part of Holt’s life.  He’s starred in Broadway productions including Jesus Christ Superstar, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, and the Lion King.  Holt moved from Nashville to New York with $400 in his pocket and big dreams.  He’s written a new book called Intuitive Rebel, Tuning into the Voice that Really Matters.  Holt says he plans to tell stories that are in the book and ones without barriers.

“Yeah, they are told through the eyes of me, an African-American male from the South who moved to New York now lives in Los Angeles,” says Holt. “But these have gems of universal principals inside of them and have this string of humanitarian good involved.”

Holt hosts workshops on university campuses around the country and continues to expand as a philanthropist to jails and creative arts centers globally.

Holt will speak Thursday at Wichita’s Watermark Books at 7pm.
