While former Vice President Joe Biden clinched the presidential nomination through strong voter turnout from Black voters in key states, much has happened in the months since he became the presumptive Democratic Party nominee.
The coronavirus disproportionately affects Black communities. Between that and continued calls for an end to systemic racism and police brutality, Black Democrats have made it clear they want a return on their investment.
It’s crucial for Biden to maintain the support of the 30 million African Americans eligible to vote in November. And for some, Biden has to do more to earn their trust.
But is simply being someone other than Donald Trump enough to get him across the finish line? What does Biden need to do to appeal to Black voters across the idealogical spectrum?
