Obama To Visit KU, But Few Details Known (Updated)

Updated April 17, 6:44am: In the wake of the tragedy in Boston, President Obama has canceled his visit to Kansas.

President Barack Obama will visit the University of Kansas campus later this week. But so far, few details have been released about the Friday event.

Presidential visits can go several ways. One way is the public speech or public appearance, like Obama’s last visit to Kansas in 2011 when he made a policy speech in Osawatomie.

But visits can also be more private affairs.

The president could meet with university officials or take care of other business and appear in public very little or not at all.

At this point, it isn’t clear what this visit will be like or even the purpose.

Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little said in a statement over the weekend that they look forward to meeting with the president and discussing KU’s educational missions.
