Newman University Awards Top Scholarship To Five High School Seniors

Newman University has awarded its most distinguished scholarship to five high school seniors.

The students were selected from among 23 candidates who interviewed for the Cardinal Newman Scholarship. Each scholarship is worth about $130,000 over four years.

To be eligible, students must have at least a 3.9 cumulative high school grade point average and a 29 composite ACT score. Students also had to complete an online application and write an essay.

The five winners, who will begin school in the fall, and their prospective course of study are: Maggie Munsterman, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, pre-medicine; Kathy Pham, Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, biology; Evan Saga, Wichita Northeast Magnet High School, pre-medicine; Michelle Tong, Wichita Northeast Magnet High School, nursing, and Presley Williams, Augusta High School, pre-medicine.

Founded in 1933, Newman University has about 2,500 undergraduate students.
