Buddy Guy/Blues Blast Nominees + Martha Reeves, William Bell & Screaming Jay Hawkins

Friday, July 16, and Sunday, July 18

Crossroads continues the July Buddy Guy birthday feature with a classic track he did with Junior Wells, Eric Clapton and Dr. John, and from one of several albums he did that won Grammys.

There are also more Blues Blast Music Awards nominees, including John Nemeth, Kim Wilson, and Alastair Greene.

And Crossroads this time also marks birthdays of Martha Reeves (of Martha & the Vandellas fame), Stax soul legend and 2020 NEA Heritage Fellow William Bell, and wild man of rhythm and blues Screaming Jay Hawkins (including a special in hour two that features his music and a conversation with biographer Steve Bergsman).

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
