Hear engaging conversation and music from the creator of "The Breathe Project" Sunday on Soulsations.
Wichita State University professor, singer and musician Dr. Kevin Harrison created the project and wrote the first song, titled "Breathe." Harrison wrote the song after the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. He says the project aims to take control of mainstream narratives about Black men.
"There was just a lot of camaraderie, there was just a lot of up lift, there was just a lot of fellowship," Harrison said.

17 men sing lead vocals on the new tune. The companion music video was filmed at two locations: Wichita's Christian Faith Center and the Historic Dunbar Theatre. 51 African American males in Wichita, ages 10 to 75, are featured in the video.
The music video for "Breathe" premieres on YouTube Saturday, August 22, at 8:46 p.m. to represent George Floyd's last 8 minutes and 46 seconds of life.
