Wednesday, May 6

We mark World Accordion Day with selections from Lost Bayou Ramblers, Los Lobos, Those Darn Accordions and “Weird” Al Yankovic.

Thursday, May 7

Having lived in Toronto for 30 years, Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith decided to relocate to a small town in the province of Ontario. In the process, he found himself entering a new and prolific era of his career. The result is the album Hermitage. We’ll hear music from that release as well as selections from I See A Darkness, the 1999 release from Bonnie “Prince” Billy.

'Geiger Counter' from Liar, Flower

Friday, May 8

Liar, Flower is the latest guise under which English vocalist KatieJane Garside finds herself recording. We’ll hear from the eclectic and acclaimed Liar, Flower release, Geiger Counter as well as selections from Garside’s earlier band, Daisy Chainsaw. 

We'll also remember Florian Schneider, co-founder of the German electronic band Kraftwerk. Schneider died earlier this week at the age of 73. 

 
Saturday, May 9

We’ll hear music from Whereabouts, the acclaimed 1999 album from Ron Sexsmith, which was produced by Tchad Blake and Mitchell Froom, known for their work with Los Lobos and the Los Lobos offshoot, Latin Playboys. We’ll also hear selections from The Coma Calling.

Monday, May 11

We'll remember rock 'n' roll pioneer, Little Richard, who died over the weekend at the age of 87.

Tuesday, May 12

We remember English singer-songwriter Ian Dury on the anniversary of his birth (1942) with selections from his landmark 1977 LP New Boots and Panties!!. Dury died in 2000 at the age of 57 from colorectal cancer.
