New Month/New Music Time – New Blues Releases

May 3/5

It’s “New Month/New Music” time as Crossroads teams up with Global Village and Strange Currency at the beginning of every month to feature the best in new blues releases. There’s new music this time from:

  • Chicago blues masters, the Cash Box Kings
  • The B.B. King Blues Band, featuring players who worked with the blues legend for over three and half decades
  • Veteran sidemen, the Texas Horns, stepping out on their own with a who’s who of blues special guests
  • Bonerama playing Zeppelin
  • Duke Robillard sharing some of his favorite Earworms from his youth
  • Harmonica player Harpdog Brown
  • The powerful voice of Alexis P. Suter
  • George Benson with a tribute to Fats Domino and Chuck Berry
  • Mitch Woods celebrating Fats Domino and other Crescent City greats at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
  • George Benson with his own tribute to Fats Domino and Chuck Berry
  • And a compilation of classic ‘50s tracks from New Orleans’ Guitar Slim

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
