Gov. Brownback has scheduled a press conference Wednesday afternoon in Topeka, with Lieutenant Gov. Jeff Colyer.
They will talk about shrinking waiting lists for disabled Kansas residents who are seeking in-home services.
Colyer is a surgeon who led the overhaul of the state's Medicaid program, which covers health care for the needy and disabled.
Kansas turned over administration of most of the Medicaid program to three private health insurance companies at the beginning of the year.
Brownback says the change created savings that will allow the state to provide more in-home services for the physically and developmentally disabled.
Almost 3,000 developmentally disabled Kansans and about 2,000 physically disabled Kansans are on waiting lists for services.
