Two local events are scheduled in January to mark National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
The Wichita Women in Health Professions will host a panel discussion by representatives of local agencies working to prevent trafficking. The event is scheduled for Jan. 23 at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. It will begin at 5:30 p.m.
On Jan. 26, Wichita State University’s Center for Combating Human Trafficking will hold its fourth annual Human Trafficking Conference. The conference will feature a number of speakers and breakout sessions. It seeks “to create intentional, long-lasting change among those who are at-risk or subjugated to labor and sex trafficking,” according to WSU.
The event is scheduled for the Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 29th Street North and Oliver. For more information, go to wichita.edu.
