We are a group of individuals practicing cultivation of the mind. All ages and people are welcome. Each week we have a thirty minute guided meditation followed by discussion. Our topics include meditation practice and living a life of compassion and contemplation. You do not need to have any experience to join and you will be welcomed by a very loving group of individuals. This is not a religious gathering. Please join us if you could use an hour of deep relaxation!

With timeless songs like “Long Black Train” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” Josh Turner’s global reach has surpassed 5.8B global streams, 6.5M album sales and almost 12M track sales world-wide. Turner’s five No. 1 singles include “Your Man,” of which the official music video surpassed 223 million views. Turner’s album Long Black Train debuted 20 years ago and was certified Platinum by the RIAA with nearly 1.5M album sales, 1.3M track downloads and almost 315M life-to-date streams. The lead single of the same name was also certified Platinum making up over 1M track downloads and almost 245M global streams. This presentation will delve into the impact of photography on the civil rights movement in the aftermath of the landmark Supreme Court case, Brown v. Board of Education, tracing the evolution of how Black individuals and communities have been portrayed from historical beginnings to the era of Brown v. Board and up to the present day. The Big Idea is a series presented by Humanities Kansas. This program is a live stream of the event in Topeka.
Celebrate Asian creatives in our community during this program presented in partnership with Wichita Asian Association. The program will begin with a tai chi performance with Michael Xie, followed by a panel discussion with local creatives moderated by Sonalli Kurlekar, President of the Wichita Asian Association. Panelists include cellist Kylie Brown, dance artist Mina Estrada, and film producer Lela Meadow-Conner.

Watermark Books & Café will host local Kansas children's author Katie Gilstrap. Katie Gilstrap is the author of Spacemanatee! She will be at Watermark to discuss her follow-up book Penny Lu Porcupine which is a story about a cautious porcupine that summons the courage to stand up to threats both real and imagined, reassuring readers that they, too, can face their fears. Katie will be here to do a Storytime and a book signing after. We hope to see you there!
