At Play: Guns, Girls and Menopause


The Crown Uptown Theatre presents the hit 1946 musical Annie Get Your Gun March 22 through April 27. This timeless love story between sharpshooters Annie Oakley and Frank Butler features songs from Irving Berlin including “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Anything You Can Do,” and “They Say It’s Wonderful.”

The Forum Theatre presents Hello Dolly March 21 through April 7. This production of the hit 1964 musical features Tony-nominated and Olivier Award-winning actress Karla Burns. Aside from the title song the musical features a number of memorable and familiar songs including “It Only Takes a Moment,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” and “It Takes a Woman.”

Cabaret Old Town continues its production of All Ways A Woman, an updated version of the 2006 show Menopaus-A-Palooza, the production features a variety of musical numbers including “I Did It With Midol,” “Natural Woman,” and “PMS Blues.” The production runs now through June 15.

You can also catch a production of Dreamgirls March 17 through 21 at Century II Concert Hall. This musical tells the story of an up-and-coming all-girl vocal group and the many ups and downs the group experiences on its way to the top. Adapted for film in 2006, Dreamgirls features memorable numbers such as “One Night Only” and “I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”

Finally, Mosley Street Melodrama’s Tallulah’s Tavern and Funeral Parlor or I See Drunk People is in its final performances, closing on March 30. The production is accompanied by the musical revue Love is in The Air
