Duke Robillard, Otis Rush, Concert Previews & Mahalia Jackson’s Birthday

October 26 & 28

Crossroads wraps up the October feature of music from Otis Rush (including from his 1999 Gramm-winning album, Any Place I’m Going) and Duke Robillard (including a guest appearance with Eddy ‘The Chief’ Clearwater, and a special devoted to his music in hour two of the show).

Plus a tribute to Mahalia Jackson for her Friday birthday, previews of a number of regional blues shows in the coming week, and the latest from Shemekia Copeland, the International Blues Challenge winning Keeshea Pratt Band, Colin James and Chicago Plays the Stones.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
