The second week of every month, Night Train rolls out the birthday cake to celebrate jazz birthdays. Among the list for August are such jazz greats as Charlie Haden, Louis Armstrong, Lester Young, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Kenny Dorham, Abbey Lincoln, and Dinah Washington.
We’ll also feature new releases with compositions from August birthday artists including releases from Ray Obiedo and Conrad Herwig (both for Wayne Shorter), Richard Baratta (saluting Charlie Parker), the Alternative Guitar Summit’s second volume of music from Pat Martino, and the trio of Goldings-Bernstein-Stewart for Larry Goldings’ birthday.
