Whitney Houston's And Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman"

Sunday, September 27

Powerhouse singer Chaka Khan recorded this hit first as part of her 1978 debut solo release. More than a decade later, Whitney Houston—one of the best-selling recording artists of all time—recorded her version for the soundtrack of the 1992 film The Bodyguard, giving a nod to her predecessor at the end of the song. Hear “I’m Every Woman” on this week’s DoubleTake. We’ll also hear a classic from the legendary husband and wife duo Ashford & Simpson who wrote “I’m Every Woman,” and we’ll remember Pamela Hutchinson from the R&B group The Emotions.  The “Best of My Love” singer died recently at the age of 61.
