Roomful Of Blues: The Guitarists

Friday, October 9 and Sunday October 11

Throughout October, in honor of Duke Robillard’s birthday, Crossroads features music of Roomful of Blues, the acclaimed blues band he co-founded back in the late ‘60s. Along with releases spanning the five-decade career of the band, Crossroads will also highlight music from the many members of the band who went on to impressive solo careers. This time we’ll focus on solo work from Duke Robillard and another popular guitarist from the band, Ronnie Earl, and hear the first of a two-part Robillard special in hour two of the show (with part two later in the month on Crossroads).

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
