Old Town's New Sound

KMUW is moving to Old Town!

Our public radio station needs more room and equipment in order to keep growing! Wichita State University is generously renovating space at 121 North Mead in Old Town increasing KMUW’s production space from six to nine newly-built studios. This means KMUW needs recording equipment that is very specialized and expensive to ensure that NPR is a strong presence in our community for years to come.

The new equipment and studios will allow KMUW to perfect the sounds of their internationally- distributed shows for listeners around the world and in our own backyard. Plus, for the first time ever, hosts like Kate Clause on Morning Edition and news reporter Carla Eckels will have professionally designed soundproof studios, adequate space for studio interviews, and no more waiting in line to make a recording. Can you imagine what they’ll accomplish for listeners with this new beginning?

If you give to KMUW during the pledge drives, thank you. KMUW depends on that to pay year-round operating expenses. However, this extra one-time gift we’re requesting will help fund an historic move that will greatly expand and enhance KMUW’s facilities, helping them establish a New Sound in Old Town.

Please consider giving at the Editor’s Level - $1000, the Producer Level - $2500, the Director Level - $5000, or the Broadcaster Level - $10,000. By choosing one of these, you’ll help purchase the most current and reliable satellite dishes, mixing boards and microphones. Your generous special foundational gift will be recognized on an engraved display at the new studios. Click here to access the pledge form.

If you'd like to give more, please consider one of the studio naming opportunities listed below. Join us in making your name part of the legacy of quality public radio in Wichita. Together we can keep KMUW strong for generations to come!
