Christmas songs will fill the air this week on Soulsations, with a brand new release from Hamilton star and actor/singer Leslie Odom Jr, plus engaging holiday tunes from Richard Smallwood, Mandisa and CeCe Winans.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 50 years since the debut of perennial favorite “This Christmas” by the legendary Donny Hathaway. Rhino Records has released a new music video for the classic tune, animated by cartoonist Lonnie Milsap, that features Hathaway spreading Christmas cheer in his hometown of Chicago. “This Christmas” is the 30th most-performed holiday song of all time; We’ll showcase Hathaway’s yuletide classic in this week’s DoubleTake, followed by a jazzy version from Boney James featuring Dee Harvey.
