Powerhouse singer Chaka Khan recorded this hit first as part of her 1978 debut solo release. More than a decade later, Whitney Houston—one of the best-selling recording artists of all time—recorded her version for the soundtrack of the 1992 film The Bodyguard, giving a nod to her predecessor at the end of the song.
