Remembering Sharon Jones & Mose Allison

November 25/27

Crossroads pays tribute to two special artists whose work was rooted in classic blues and soul – pianist, singer and songwriter Mose Allison, and soul singer Sharon Jones – who both recently passed away. The show highlights music from across their careers and, in hour two, presents a special live performance from Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings at the Sasquatch Music Festival.

Crossroads also highlights more Texas blues for the November feature – this time from Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton, Freddie King and Albert Collins - and highlights new music from the Bo Keys, Duke Robillard, and a posthumous release from Mighty Sam McClain.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
