Global Village journeys to Scotland for traditional and contemporary Scottish folk and folk rock for the October feature. Among the artists and groups featured are such legendary artists and bands as Archie Fisher, Bert Jansch, the Incredible String Band and Capercaillie – and rising stars including Karine Polwart, Emily Smith, Treacherous Orchestra, and The Chair.
Tuesday, October 27
Global Village highlights some different approaches to Latin music from the Sones de Mexico Ensemble, pan-Latin jazz band Grupo Cha Cha, Brazil-grass group Matuto, tango from vibes player (and newly named 2016 NEA Jazz Master) Gary Burton, and neo-tango from Spain’s Otros Aires.

This special edition of Global Village highlights music from the newly named nominees in the 2015 Canadian Folk Awards. Over 70 different artists and groups from across Canada were included among this year’s nominees with music ranging from the traditional to the contemporary, veteran artists and rising stars, indigenous artists, and groups inspired by sounds from around the globe. Among the artists featured are Buffy Sainte-Marie, KiranAhluwalia, Monsoon, The Young Novelists, Le Vent du Nord, The Shoeless, and Ayrad.

Global Village goes psychedelic with some '60s inspired global sounds from Pucho & the Latin Soul Brothers, ‘70s Nigerian band Semi Colon, guitarist Nguyen Le, veteran chichi group The Cumbia All Stars, Australia’s Bombay Royale, and the Cambodian Space Project.
