Stevie Wonder’s Birthday, Twilight Zone Day & The Birthday Of The Persuasions’ Jayotis Washington

Monday, May 11

SPECIAL: Global Village celebrates Twilight Zone Day with music inspired by the famed TV sci-fi show and capturing its trademark eerie spirit. Among the highlights, a song from Lorraine Feather inspired by the first episode of the show, reworkings of the show’s theme in songs by Manhattan Transfer and the B52s, and some exotica weirdness from Les Baxter and Raymond Scott.

Tuesday, May 12

Global Village celebrates the birthday of Jayotis Washington with music from the Persuasions, the a cappella group he co-founded. It’s the birthdays as well of electro-bossa star Bebel Gilberto and Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis Group, Traffic) – and Global Village also continues its month-long birthday party for Stevie Wonder with music from his classic album, Songs in the Key of Life.

Wednesday, May 13

SPECIAL: It’s the 65th birthday of May featured artist Stevie Wonder and Global Village celebrates with a show devoted entirely to his music - from his first album, The Jazz Soul of Stevie Wonder, through classic albums like Songs in the Key of Life, to covers of his songs and collaborations with Third World, Bill Ware & Vibes, the Catella Trinidad All Stars, Kavita Shah, Stanley Turrentine and more.

Thursday, May 14
