Night Train continues with more music in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Newport Jazz Festival with music from the Newport Jazz Festival All-Stars, Gregory Porter – who appeared at this year’s festival, and a live performance in hour two of the show from another of the stars of this year’s Newport, singer Cecile McLorin Salvant. Plus birthday salutes to pianist Adam Makowicz and guitarist Ed Laub – and new music from Dee Alexander and the Band of Bones.

Night Train continues the August Newport Jazz Festival feature, celebrates Hungary’s St. Stephen’s Day with some Hungarian jazz artists, and marks birthdays of Italian trumpeter Enrico Rava, and bassist John Clayton – including a performance in hour two of the show from the Clayton Brothers at the Savannah Music Festival.
Global Village also features Hungarian music tonight for St. Stephen's Day.

Night Train marks birthdays of band leader and pianist Count Basie (including music he did at the Newport Jazz Festival), trumpeter Art Farmer, and drummer Leon Parker. Plus more music for the August Newport Jazz Fest 60th anniversary feature – this time from the New Gary Burton Quartet and Mostly Other People Do the Killing, and new music from Kansas City organist Everette DeVan, Steve Khan, and a preview of the new album from saxophonist Jane Bunnett, who will be performing in Wichita in September.
