Chart-Topping Composer, Producer, and Sideman, Ray Parker, Jr.

Sunday on Soulsations, music from guitarist and producer Ray Parker, Jr.  Parker was the front man for the soul band Raydio and as a successful session musician, Parker played guitar on Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book Project and Marvin Gaye’s I Want You album. He also co-wrote and recorded the theme song for the 1984 Ghostbusters movie. The Detroit-native’s career was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and he's expected to release a new album this summer.

Carla Eckels is Director of Organizational Culture at KMUW. She produces and hosts the R&B and gospel show Soulsations and brings stories of race and culture to The Range with the monthly segment In the Mix. Carla was inducted into The Kansas African American Museum's Trailblazers Hall of Fame in 2020 for her work in broadcast/journalism.
