Federal prosecutors want to shield some evidence in the case of a man being accused of plotting a suicide bombing at Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport.
They asked the court on Thursday to limit who can see formerly classified information that has been declassified in order to prosecute 58-year-old Terry Loewen of Wichita.
The government wants to protect identities of undercover agents and the use of sensitive sources and methods.
Loewen had worked at the airport as an avionics technician.
On Dec. 13 , he tried to drive a van carrying what he believed was a bomb onto the tarmac, but was arrested after what was revealed to be a months-long undercover sting.
Loewen is charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, attempted use of an explosive device to damage property, and attempted material support to the terrorist group al-Qaida.
Prosecutors want to limit dissemination of materials to witnesses...and to keep the defense from providing copies to the media.
