Whoa! Those trees went fast!
Associated Integrated Marketing says that it's given away all of its free maple trees already. The company and community volunteers gave away hundreds of trees Friday morning in just over an hour.
If you missed the free trees but still want to celebrate Arbor Day, the city of Wichita will host its Arbor Day event and tree fair Friday from 10 am to noon.
Members of the city's parks and recreation department will be at the Kiwanis Park shelter--rain or shine--with $10 Kentucky Coffee tree seedlings for sale. They'll also share information on tree trimming, pruning, and stump removal.
Kiwanis Park is at 5101 W. 2nd street in Wichita.

Associated Integrated Marketing and other partners in Wichita are hosting their 7th annual tree giveaway Friday, to celebrate Arbor Day.
Wichita-area residents can pick up a free Brandywine maple tree on a first-come, first-served basis, starting at 6:30 a.m. in Old Town Square. (Just in front of the Warren Theater.)
Associated's Dave Stewart says since they started this event seven years ago, his team and other volunteers have given away more than 6,500 trees.
Though the event is early, Stewart says it's easy to pick up the tree.
"You just drive up, and a volunteer will load a tree in your vehicle and give you some information on how to plant it, and then you're on your way."
Stewart approximates they'll give away a few hundred trees this time, in gallon buckets with soil and planting instructions.
Most years, the trees are gone before 8:30 a.m.
