The 1619 Project (Learning Circle)

The 1619 Project is an ongoing initiative from The New York Times Magazine that began in August 2019, the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. It aims to reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative. The Learning Circle will allow participants to read through the essays available through The 1619 Project, as well as from additional sources, and discuss the topics related to those essays. Learning Circles are lightly facilitated study groups for learners who want to take online courses together. This Learning Circle will meet weekly for 6 weeks, starting September 1. This group will meet online via Zoom. A link will be provided before the program. The series is free, but registration is required. Visit www.p2pu.org/wichita to register or call 261-8500.
