Dance Odyssey: Danza Allegria

Amira Dance Productions, the longest-running community dance studio in Wichita, is presenting its 49th annual show at TempleLive, the historic former Wichita Scottish Rite Center built in 1888 originally as Wichita's YMCA.

There will be two performances of Dance Odyssey: Danza Allegria (Spanish meaning dance joy) on Saturday, March 2: a 3 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance.

Amira's annual production showcases the studio's many dance styles, ranging from bellydancing to Bollywood, and features creative, colorful costuming and a variety of world music. More than 60 local performers will fill the stage in this family-friendly show.

Amira Dance Productions, located at 1702 W. Douglas, was founded in 1974 by Alice Castilow, who also co-founded the Metropolitan Ballet of Wichita. ADP offers the broadest range of dance styles of any community dance studio in Wichita, with classes in bellydance, Egyptian folkloric, Polynesian, ballroom, hula hooping, Bollywood and various tribal-style genres.
