Grant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2750 N. Hillside, along with three other Black Methodist congregations, will be beginning the Lenten Season with an Ash Wednesday worship experience that is open to the public. Although this event is free to attend, parishioners are encouraged to bring non-perishables as their offering to support our food drive.
On Wednesday, February 18 at 12 Noon, Grant Chapel, along with St. Paul A.M.E. Church, St. Matthew C.M.E. Church, and Hall’s Chapel AME Church (Newton, KS), will come together to celebrate the first day of Lent.
The one-hour service, which will include songs, prayers, Scripture readings and preaching, will conclude with the imposition of ashes on the foreheads of attendees in the shape of a cross.
