Art is not only for Art Museums. If a picture is worth a thousand words, it stands to reason that art can tell us a lot about the times and place where it was produced. Local history museums exist to explore time and place.
Featuring works from C.A. Seward, John Noble, Edmund Davison, Birger Sandzen, Bruce McGrew, and more!
On view on the Historical Museum's 3rd Floor, throughout 2026 as part of the ongoing Lois Kay Walls visual art exhibition series produced by the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.
Be the first to visit this new exhibition during the First Friday opening on April 3, 2026.

The annual Garden Tour returns for 2026, offering a curated look at six thoughtfully designed private landscapes across the Wichita area. Hosted by the Sedgwick County Extension Master Gardeners, this year’s tour highlights practical and creative approaches to gardening, including water-wise design, habitat for pollinators and wildlife, and the integration of both ornamental and edible plantings. Each garden presents its own perspective—from lakeside settings with water features and drainage solutions, to native plant landscapes, shaded retreats, and artful residential spaces designed for everyday living.
The Garden Tour will be open for three days only: Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, June 7 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, and children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult.
This family-friendly event offers ideas for gardeners of all experience levels. Visitors will see a range of features including ponds, dry creek beds, and water features; native grasses and drought-tolerant plantings; shade gardens anchored by mature trees; and inviting outdoor living spaces with seating, pergolas, and garden art. Several gardens also incorporate edible elements such as vegetable beds, grapevines, and fruit trees alongside ornamental plantings.
All plants will be labeled, and Extension Master Gardener volunteers will be on-site at each location to answer questions and share research-based gardening information.

Tennessee-born troubadour Larry Fleet grew up on a stack of records that spun everything from Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson to Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye. That mix shaped a sound rooted in country storytelling but unafraid to reach beyond its borders. A thoughtful songwriter with a knack for sharp one-liners, sturdy hooks, and a powerhouse voice that cuts straight to the truth, Fleet was working blue-collar jobs long before ever landing a record deal.A devout family man and respected songwriter (including co-writing “Man Made A Bar,” recorded by Morgan Wallen featuring Eric Church), Fleet has built an impressive catalog: 2019’s aptly titled Workin’ Hard, 2021’s Stack of Records—a nod to the music that raised him—2023’s Earned It with the standout “Things I Take for Granted,” and now 2025’s independently released Hard Work & Holy Water. Fleet is doing things his own way—touring globally, connecting with fans, and staying true to where he’s from while taking country music somewhere new.
