Mental Health Advocates To Rally At Statehouse

Mental health advocates will rally in Topeka this week for increased state funding for services.

Thursday's event is sponsored by the Kansas Mental Health Coalition. Secretary of Aging and Disability Services, Shawn Sullivan, plans to take part in a morning gathering at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. Gov. Sam Brownback is scheduled to address the advocates in the Statehouse Thursday afternoon.

Rally participants are pushing for the governor and legislators to restore money that was cut from mental health services.

Salina Man Sentenced For Selling Designer Drug

A former Salina coffee shop owner has been placed on a year's probation in federal court for selling a designer drug that mimics the effects of marijuana.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 44-year-old Erick Srack pleaded guilty to introducing a misbranded drug into interstate commerce.

Srack admitted selling bags of what was labeled as "Aromatic Potpourri" at his coffee shop, The Grind. He was sentenced to 30 months in state prison.
