The Sedgwick County Election Office is looking to hire more election workers to be fully staffed for the upcoming primary and general elections.
Election Commissioner Tabitha Lehman says right now, they have enough workers for the August 1 Primary, but they want to add more people in case there are cancellations.
Lehman says the primary will be small–only three cities have races on the ballot because those races have more than two candidates.
"For August, we have City of Wichita City Council District 1, and then we have Haysville City Council Ward 4 and Park City Ward 3 will have primaries," Lehman says.
Lehman says they have 23 openings for workers for the November 7 General Election.
Prospective poll workers must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Sedgwick County and a registered voter.
Sedgwick County began using new voting equipment in April when a countywide special election was held to fill the 4th Congressional District seat.
The last day to register to vote in the August primary is July 11.
Advance voting by mail will be begin July 12. In-person advance voting at the Sedgwick County Election Office begins July 17. Other polling places around the county will open for in-person voting on July 27.
