City of Wichita bean-counters are reportedly considering some cuts at CityArts, our downtown facility that provides arts education and instruction, gallery exhibition space and a small gift shop. But they say it’s too early to get concerned, so I thought I’d just get musical:

CityArts is a Wichita treasure, honey
Gives art lovers a whole lot of pleasure, babe
They’re thinking ‘bout closing that gallery down
Just to save a few dollars here in Wichita town
Honey, baby, mine

Well, you get a pitchfork, I’ll get a torch, honey
You get a pitchfork, I’ll get a torch, babe
You get a pitchfork, I’ll get a torch
We’ll go camp out on the City Hall porch
Honey, baby, mine

While other cities grow ours is falling behind, now, honey
We need to give Wichita its chance to shine, now, babe
They’re not helping our quality of life
When they stab our arts with a budgetary knife
Honey, baby, mine

Well, you get a pitchfork, I’ll get a torch, honey
You get a pitchfork, I’ll get a torch, babe
It might be time to let City Hall hear
That cutting CityArts is a rotten idea
Honey, baby, mine
