Low Income Energy Assistance Recipients Receive Summer Help

About 48,000 Kansas families received funding through the federal government’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program last winter. The average benefit was $386 per household.

Now those same families will receive another $103 toward their utilities this summer.

The funding is what was left over from the winter program. It’s an additional benefit, not a new application, so there’s no paperwork required.

In most cases, the money goes directly to gas and electric providers.
