Thieves Strip Copper From Former Dillons

Wichita police say thieves have stripped $100,000 worth of copper wire and piping from a former Dillons in southeast Wichita.

Police say the theft was discovered Tuesday at a now-closed Dillons store near Harry and Oliver.

Capt. Doug Nolte says damages to the building will likely cost more than the copper. He says the thieves cut holes throughout the building.

Nolte added they appeared to be working inside it for a long period of time. Police are working with evidence found at the scene to track down the thieves.
