Wichita was recently ranked in the top 20 for American cities with the highest number of births.

According to a Bloomberg analysis of 2014 census data, Wichita is ranked ninth when compared to other U.S. cities.

The survey found that Wichita had 14.8 births per 1,000 people Cities in Utah, Texas and California took the top eight spots.

Experts say the common thread between the cities is that they have high numbers of young households. And young populations tend to have more babies, regardless of an area’s fertility rate.

Other factors taken into account included high concentrations of family-oriented religions and lower unemployment rates making people feel financially secure enough to have children.
