Dozens Of Bills Passed Before Legislative Deadline

"Turnaround" is basically the midpoint of the legislative session. Most bills that haven’t passed one chamber by today are dead for this year.

The recent winter storms caused a challenge for lawmakers, because they slowed or stopped work at the Statehouse. That meant less time for committees to wrap up work on bills before the deadline.

The Senate finished Thursday. House lawmakers worked late Thursday night and finished up around noon Friday. Legislators will now take a four-day weekend and return to the Statehouse on Wednesday of next week.
