The Kansas Humane Society has broken its record for the number of animals adopted in a single year.
With kittens and puppies in hand, employees of the Kansas Humane Society in Wichita were proud to announce at a press conference at City Hall that their organization had a record year in terms of how many pets they rescued and placed in homes.
“In 2015, we saved over 10,00 animals for the first time in ever in our history," said Kansas Humane Society president Mark Eby. "We provided services to over 16,000 animals with our spay and neuter surgeries that we offer and getting people reunited with their animals.”
Eby said his organization couldn’t have done it without the help of its staff, donors and volunteers, as well as help from the Wichita Animal Services, a city department dedicated to rescuing stray animals and reuniting them with their owners.
