Two open houses of a historic Kansas home are scheduled for potential buyers as the state tries again to sell the property.

The 12,000-square-foot Hiram Price Dillon House was built in 1913 near the Statehouse in Topeka. It's on the National Register of Historic Places and is known for its Italian Renaissance-style architecture.

The state has owned the house since 1998, when a church nearby traded the property for a parking lot. The house has been largely vacant in recent years.

The Dillon House has an appraised value of $448,000. A sealed-bid auction for the property in February attracted two bids. Both were rejected.

A public auction is now scheduled June 25. Public showings are scheduled June 11 and again on June 18, both starting at 1:30 p.m.
