Street Team

There are several ways to volunteer for KMUW, but joining the Street Team is a great way to promote the station while getting some exercise throughout the year. Meet other public radio lovers and KMUW staff, and have a great time participating in local races sponsored by KMUW.

The 2021 Street Team is not currently accepting applications.

Street Team members typically run 3 to 5 KMUW sponsored races in the community for free, with the purchase of a KMUW tech shirt or singlet ($50, cash or check only).

Changes to the 2021 Street Team:

  • Because of COVID-19 the 2021 Street Team will run fewer races than in previous years.
  • Street Team members must either donate at or above the $50 level or volunteer at least 10 hours per year.
  • Volunteer hours can include race setup, attending digital KMUW events, sharing KMUW social media content, and other opportunities yet to be determined.
  • The Street Team is limited to 50 members and will be selected by a committee of KMUW staff members.

Here's how it works:

  • Select your top priority of races from a list sent by the Street Team Coordinator (no race is guaranteed to be sponsored, and no race is guaranteed for individual runners)
  • Sign-up for your races per the instructions provided.
  • Wear your KMUW tech shirt/singlet to each race to represent the station. Shirts and singlets will be mailed once the payment has been received ($50 cash or check please). Our mailing address is:

KMUW121 N. Mead, Suite 200
Wichita, KS 67208

Other details:

  • KMUW Street Team members coordinate post-race hangouts after select events and practice runs throughout the year. Join in when you can!
  • Help promote KMUW by sharing your experience on social media.
  • We encourage all of our Street Team members volunteer for KMUW in other capacities. You can find out more information on our volunteer page. Sign up for other opportunities and mark that you are interested in athletic races on your application.
