Wichita State University’s Foundation had a record fundraising year.

The WSU Foundation’s fiscal 2018 total was $66.6 million, $10 million more than the previous record. The total includes cash gifts, gifts-in-kind, pledges and new planned gifts. The foundation raises private funds to advance the university.

“This extraordinary generosity from alumni, businesses and other supporters demonstrates their commitment to Wichita State’s mission and their excitement about our future,” Elizabeth King, the foundation's president and CEO, said in a statement.

Donations included $12 million from Wayne and Kay Woolsey, who put $10 million toward WSU's new business school. Long-time WSU supporters Dorothy and Bill Cohen gave an additional $2.5 million to the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College, named in recognition of their support. A $1 million gift from the Give Something Back Foundation will provide full scholarships for students in financial need.

The foundation's assets as of June are valued at $342 million, compared with $302 million at the end of the last fiscal year.
