Wichita Veterans Day Parade Will Honor Veterans, Current Military Members

Wichita’s annual Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday.

The parade is designed to honor those who have served and those currently serving in the military.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. at Central and Main in downtown Wichita. It will head south on Main and end at the WaterWalk Commons.

Herb Duncan is a Vietnam War veteran and one of the parade organizers. He says people should come to the event to show their patriotism and honor America's veterans.

“A lot of these men and women were the ones who put their lives on the line… and also represent those who never came home,” Duncan said.

Duncan says the parade also is a healing process for many veterans who have difficult memories from their service.

After the parade, there will be a celebration, time to interact with parade participants and displays for viewing. A closing ceremony will be held at 1:45 p.m.

“Come to the event to express and acknowledge the service that the American veteran has provided to you and me, and our children and our families,” Duncan said.
