Christmas Day is a time of celebration, a day when many of us traditionally gather with family or friends. But even that simple act is difficult —even impossible —in a year marked by significant challenges.
KMUW's Carla Eckels spoke to four Wichita pastors who shared their messages of faith and hope.
"We can celebrate Christmas joyously even in the midst of a global pandemic. These times are very much like the first Christmas when there was an unexplained pregnancy, there was genocide, there was ambiguity and chaos, but even in the mist of all of that, God was doing a miracle and I believe that even now with everything going on, God is blessing us, so relax, enjoy this season."
"Be encouraged as we face each brand-new day. Remember, take time to smile and know that we will get through this together. Miracles are occurring every day. As 2021 is ushered in, pause, pray and give thanks for all humanity."
"Thank God for hope."
"The year 2020 has been a very challenging and trying year for us. When you consider COVID-19, racial tension and divide in our nation, it’s enough to make you lose your holiday spirit. ... Now is the season of celebration, celebrating that God has brought us through another year."
