West Coast Blues And T-Bone Walker

Friday, June 12 and Sunday, June 14

Crossroads kicks off the June feature, celebrating West Coast blues artists past and present.

We’ll hear music from influential early artists like Lowell Fulson and Charles Brown, along with contemporary artists and groups including Kid Ramos, Karen Lovely, the Lucky Losers, Hollywood Blue Flames, and Little Feat.

We’ll also get to music from a new compilation of classic tracks from one of the major influences on West Coast blues, T-Bone Walker, and a special about him in hour two of the show.

Plus the latest from harmonica players Mark Hummel and Tony Holiday, soul blues master Frank Bey, Texas blues singer Annika Chambers, and piano man Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
