Virtual Mardi Gras – Music Of New Orleans + Blues Music Awards Nominees & Maple Blues Awards Nominee

Friday, February 26 and Sunday, February 28

Crossroads wraps up February features of Maple Blues Awards nominees and winners (including JW-Jones, Colin Linden, Lindsay Beaver, and Steve Marriner), Blues Music Awards nominees (Savoy Brown, Sonny Green, Andrew Alli, and Walter Trout), and music of the Crescent City – this time joining in with Global Village and Strange Currency to celebrate the birthday of New Orleans legend Fats Domino. We’ll hear some Domino classics and a cover of one of his songs by Dr. John in hour one, and a Fats Domino special in hour two. Crossroads also marks the birthday of talented Chicago bluesman Jimmy Burns in this edition of the show.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
