Third Annual Wichita Women's March Set For Jan. 19

Jan 2, 2019

Editor's note: Because of expected freezing weather, the Women's March will start at 1 p.m. at City Hall. Marchers will proceed to the Wave venue in Old Town where the rally will be held indoors. Organizers announced the change on Thursday, Jan. 17.

The third annual Women’s March will take place in Wichita later this month.

It will coincide with other marches nationwide on Saturday, Jan. 19. The march will start at the Keeper of the Plains at 1 p.m. and move toward City Hall for a rally. The past two Women’s Marches have each drawn more than 1,000 people.

The rally will feature several local speakers as well as live music. Different organizations will have tables set up around City Hall, and there will also be voter registration opportunities.

“Claim Your Voice” is this year’s theme. Organizers say the Women’s March seeks to empower women of all backgrounds to fight for better representation in government and to stand in solidarity with one another.
