Summer Fest Month Plus Screamin’ Jay, Lonnie Mack And Jim Kweskin

Friday, July 17 and Sunday, July 19

Crossroads marks birthdays of Screaming Jay Hawkins, guitar whiz Lonnie Mack, and Jug Band star Jim Kweskin. Along with music from a new album from Kweskin and a guest appearance he made at the Jug Band Extravaganza concert, we’ll hear Kweskin in a concert special in hour two of the show.

As part of the July Summer Festival Month feature, there’s also live music from Katherine Davis, Wee Willie Walker, and Linsey Alexander’s new album, along with new music from Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne, Blind Lemon Pledge and Maceo Parker.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
