Rather than putting your Christmas tree on the curb, Sedgwick County is asking people to drop their tree off at one of 22 recycling locations. Trees brought to the recycling locations will be turned into mulch, which will be available for anyone to pick up and use.
Cindy Lee with Sedgwick County Environmental Services says there's really only one rule people need to follow.
"I can't stress enough how important it is to remind everybody to remove your lights and your ornaments," she says. "We can't mulch that up."
You can drop your tree off at any of the locations until January 23.
