Roomful of Blues: Together and Solo

Friday, October 30 and Sunday, November 1

Crossroads wraps up the October Roomful of Blues feature with music from the band, and solo projects from past members including Ronnie Earl, Greg Piccolo, Duke Robillard, and Sugar Ray Norcia (including music from his new album with the Bluetones and featured in a special in hour two).

We’ll also get to a blast from the past from James Brown from his Famous Flames days, and  new tracks from a great soul discovery – Sonny Green, Johnny Iguana’s Chicago Spectacular, and an archival gem from the New Moon Jelly Roll Freedom Rockers (with Charlie Musselwhite, Alvin Youngblood Hart, the Squirrel Nut Zippers’ Jimbo Mathus, and Jim, Cody and Luther Dickenson.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
