More than half a dozen people spoke against bringing a Tyson chicken processing plant to Sedgwick County at Wednesday's commission meeting.
The Sedgwick County Commission once again opened their meeting with people voicing opposition to a Tyson chicken processing plant.
Amy Berman was among those who spoke out. She and her family live south of Wichita near Clearwater. She said she’s very concerned about the impact a Tyson facility would have on her water well and property value.
“I know nothing has been decided at this point as far as if the project will occur or even any locations, but the news of this, of even it being a potential project, was devastating to us because a lot of our daily life would be affected,” she said.
According to a Tyson spokesperson, plans for a new processing plant in Kansas are still on hold. There is no official timeline for when or if Tyson will make a new proposal.
